The Audi RS Q8: Performance SUV with Flagship Lighting

The Audi RS Q8 combines the Q8's body with a 591 hp twin-turbo V8, launching to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. As the performance flagship of the Q family, it comes standard with HD Matrix LED and — on some configurations — the optional Laser Light booster. In the US, both systems require ECE mode activation to operate fully.

Check your window sticker for "Laser Light" if you're unsure whether your RS Q8 has the laser booster. Most RS Q8s delivered in the US have HD Matrix standard; Laser Light is a separate option that commands a significant premium.

Activation Details

Standard MLB Evo SFD2 process. For RS Q8 with Laser Light: a single ODIS session with the ECE market code change enables both the HD Matrix adaptive function AND the Laser booster simultaneously — they're both part of the ECE mode package.

Post-activation, the Laser booster activates above ~37 mph when high beam is running, extending illumination to 600m+. At RS Q8 speeds, this is meaningfully more useful road coverage.

RS Q8 Sound and Light: The Full Package

RS Q8 owners who activate Matrix often also explore the exhaust sound coding via VCDS — the active valve exhaust can be tuned for more aggressive sport and RS mode behavior. Matrix activation via ODIS + exhaust adjustment via VCDS + sport display in Virtual Cockpit creates a comprehensive performance upgrade package with no hardware modification.
